Hello World

It’s a BOY! That makes seven boys and one girl just in case you were trying to keep track. I suppose you want the stats now.

Josiah David Pierpont - we’ll probably be calling him J.D. pretty soon
Born July 31st at 12:34 PM
8 Pounds, 12 Ounces
22 Inches Long

Mom is doing well now after a rough day. I’m on my way to bed now. :-)

The picture isn’t too flattering - maybe we’ll have something snappier for you tomorrow. He wanted us to know he wasn’t too pleased with somebody turning the lights on all of a sudden. Kind of how I look in the morning, now that I think about it.

I honestly don’t remember this event in my life, but then I was only five and I’ve always said I have memories represed between the pages of my mind. Isn’t that a song or something? Don’t tell Ken I don’t remember it though or he won’t buy me books for my birthday any more.

My, Things Sure Are Quiet, Dear

Over the last fifteen years or so we’ve had cable television on and off depending on where we were living at the time. This week we had it disconnected. What a liberating feeling and it’s been a little more peaceful around here lately. As peaceful as things can be with seven children between the ages of eleven and sixteen months.

God Bless America - One Nation UNDER God!

By Maynard H. Belt

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord….” Psalm 33:12

There is no question that patriotism in our land has increased immensely since the 9/11 terrorist attack upon our country. Yet, in the very midst of such intensified loyalty, just last month the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, one of the most liberal in the nation, and whose decisions are often overturned, ruled that the words “under God,” added to the Pledge of Allegiance by Congress in 1954, violated the constitutional principle of separation of church and state. The decision stemmed from a lawsuit by a California father, a San Francisco doctor and atheist, who was annoyed and offended that his daughter had to listen to her second-grade classmates recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
