“The Nativity Story” review

For those interested in the major motion picture The Nativity Story due to appear in theaters on December 1, Al Mohler’s review is worth a few minutes of your time. His introduction summarizes…

Here is my instant review — the movie is in season and on message. In other words, the movie faithfully presents the main thrust of the Christmas story. That is no small achievement.

Watch Your Life and Doctrine

This is for all the pastors, would-be pastors in my family and those pastor friends of mine.

A few months ago C.J. Mahaney spoke at the Together for the Gospel conference along with several other pastors such as Ligon Duncan, John MacArthur, Albert Mohler, R.C. Sproul, Mark Dever and John Piper. According to Justin Taylor “the sessions from the conference are being compiled into Preaching the Cross, a book that will be published by Crossway in 2007.”

A mild weather day here

It’s unusual to have such a warm day here in northern Michigan in November. Taylor grilled some brats and hot dogs for our lunch today given to us by our kind neighbors before they headed down state this weekend.

I know him

And by this we know
that we have come to know him,
if we keep his commandments.
Whoever says “I know him”
but does not keep his commandments is a liar,
and the truth is not in him,
but whoever keeps his word,
in him truly the love of God is perfected.
By this we may be sure
that we are in him: 1 John 2:3-5 (ESV)

I have come to know Him when I am saturated in His Word, captivated by His truth, and living in obedience to the King of Kings. Woe to me when I say I know him and yet habitually fail to obey and follow the one who gave Himself for me.
