Thrifty shopping for God’s glory
A nice article and a neat photo of John Piper doing some thrifty shopping here. I was able to do a bit of cross-country skiing this winter because of some good thrift store discoveries.

A milestone for our firstborn. Kudos to the first to figure out what it is (for those who I haven’t told already).

Carolyn and I took Zack to breakfast this morning for his 7th birthday.
God has blessed us, living in northern Michigan, with lots of fresh snow. We’ve also been blessed with some wonderful finds this season on cross country ski gear in thrift stores. I’ve just been learning to ski in the last few days and the boys and I enjoyed a great time this morning on the ski trails near our house. All my practice until now had been in the back yard. The weather was a crisp 19 degrees and sunny — just right.

Kristi brings great joy to her father’s heart. Happy birthday Kristi!
Our good friend Roger Miller helped teach Taylor and me how to properly wax an auto today. Our Savana has never looked so good.

An early shot this morning of our first snow of the season. It will likely be gone later today. Click the image for a larger version.
Tomorrow, October 1, is Jacob’s 10th birthday. We’ll be traveling on his birthday to help his grandparents move, so we celebrated today. We love you Jacob.

Yesterday was Luke’s 11th birthday. Happy Birthday Luke. This morning he headed to the kitchen to make pancakes for everyone and to celebrate Josiah’s 5th birthday.

Happy Birthday Josiah!

While in Chicago we passed the Rock and Roll McDonalds on our way back to the room each night.
Kevin Jr. with his hand crafted bow–it’s really a nice piece of work.

It’s been an unusual December for Northern Michigan. In the 40’s today so Kevin Jr. and Taylor stepped out for a little target practice this afternoon.

Taylor’s bow. We had a great Church family Christmas party last night with a white elephant gift exchange. Taylor ended up with this nice bow after his older brother finally finished the night with it in his possession.
Our sweet Kristi turned 12 on Saturday. Happy Birthday Kristi!

A salute to the Marine Corps on it’s 231st birthday.
Update: My lovely wife pointed me to this fine piece on the Marines by W. Thomas Smith, Jr. Semper Fi Mr. Smith.
