Semper Fi

Today is the 228th birthday of the Marine Corps. You’ve heard the Marine motto Semper Fi. It’s an ancient Latin term that means “always faithful.” During my time in the Marine Corps I gained deeper understanding of that saying. Marines use Semper Fi as a motto because it reflects how they feel about their country and about each other. The Semper Fi motto ought to be one a follower of Christ claims for life; always faithful in our service to God, our families and God’s church. We sin prone humans struggle with faithfulness but God’s faithfulness will last forever (Psalm 146:6). We may fail Him but He will never fail us. May your gratitude for God’s faithfulness to you spur you on in your faithfulness to Him in all you do.
